secluded beaches and creeks, or alternatively you can visit
the sunny, main beaches that offer every kind of comfort and
amusement. Besides swimming, the gentle currents and various
depths make the local waters ideal for fishing, especially
for scubadiving.
Thanks to its location Dimora dei Priori
in an excellent place to start from when visiting the most
important tourist attractions of Abruzzo.
In fact Torino di Sangro, is
located at the foot of the Majella mountain
and has it’s own coast, from here you can easily get to the
national parks of the region (Gran Sasso
of Abruzzo and Majella’s parks). A
very close network of natural reserves covers the whole
territory. Just think of the “Lecceta” in Torino di Sangro,
a green oasis that gives shelter to birds, birds of prey and
turtoises (a unique breed, that is protected and luckily not
in danger of extinction). Then you can’t miss the chance to
visit the fortifications, castles or the mysterious caves,
like the so called “Grotte del Cavallone”,
where time, among the stalagmites and stalactites, seems to
have stopped. Other tourist destinations to point out are
the “Miracolo Eucaristico” in Lanciano,
an old town that is rich in history, art and traditions; the
“Sanctuary of Our Lady of Miracles” in
Casalbordino, a place of pilgrimage that
inspired G. D’Annunzio to write his best works; the
“S. Giovanni in Venere”, considered the
biggest feud of South Italy; the “War Cemetery”,
built in memory of the English soldiers who died during the
battle of Sangro; and the town of Vasto,
with its Belvedere and its lighthouse where you can overlook
the sea; San Vito Chietino, where the hermitage Dannunziano
is situated, and where the poet was inspired to write one of
his most dramatic works, “The triumph of the death”.
